*Collection of news and information on Malaysia* *(1) 7 harsh realities facing non-Malays and non-Muslims* https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/opinion/2025/08/24/7-harsh-realities-facing-non-malays-and-non-muslims Tajuddin Rasdi If we do not accept or merely deny these realities, the country will go nowhere, or worse, will slide even further down a perilous road. I am going to be blunt and a little harsh in this article. The nation is in a crisis, politically speaking. And although no buildings have been torched yet, nor lives lost, make no mistake – we are in a dire situation. I am not referring to politicians like Dr Akmal Saleh and his racial rhetoric. But I am talking directly to us Malaysians, particularly those not of my race and religion. To this group, there are seven realities that we as Malaysians must come to peace with before we talk about change. If we do not accept, or merely deny these realities, we will go nowhere or worse will slide even furt...

*Many businesses in KL now hesitant to fly Jalur Gemilang due to fear of backlash - Ben Fong*

*Many businesses in KL now hesitant to fly Jalur Gemilang due to fear of backlash - Ben Fong* In recent weeks, there has been much controversy over the display of the Jalur Gemilang. Following this, I have received considerable feedback from businesses in Kuala Lumpur, especially in Bukit Bintang, that many are now hesitant to fly nnnthe national flag in conjunction with Merdeka. Their reluctance stems from concerns, not from a weaker sense of belonging or diminished sense of patriotism. Traders have assured me that they remain proud Malaysians and want to celebrate the National Day. However, they fear unintended mistakes, such as the flag being hung slightly off-angle or blown upside down by the wind, as seen in a recent viral case in Melaka. They worry such accidents could be misinterpreted and attract unnecessary criticism. Some even fear sabotage attempts. This is why many prefer to err on the side of caution by not flying the Malaysian flag at all, unlike in previous years when ...

Time to draw the line on Akmal Saleh's bigotry, bullying and race-baiting

Time to draw the line on Akmal Saleh's bigotry, bullying and race-baiting - Zaid Malek 12 August 2025 I refer to the statement issued by UMNO Youth Chief Akmal Saleh yesterday where he threatened again to "educate" the hardware store owner in Penang & hold a protest over the flag issue if the store-owner is not charged by Wednesday. This statement is an open public declaration of planned criminal acts by Akmal, including criminal intimidation, trespass and breach of peace. It is getting ridiculous that he is getting away with this public misconduct. Why are the police and Madani government staying silent over his antics? Do they condone it? Is there still law and order in this country? The ordinary public is stunned that Akmal continues to harass and bully the store-owner, using his position as an elected assemblymen and part of the ruling government, to act with impunity. This politician, bereft of any good sense, is gathering a mob to intimidate and bull...

*Malaysia Brain Drain Due To Racist Policy – “Second-Class Citizens” Treatment Of Non-Bumiputeras*

*Malaysia Brain Drain Due To Racist Policy – "Second-Class Citizens" Treatment Of Non-Bumiputeras* Khairy Jamaluddin, supposedly the top brain of UMNO before he was sacked, has finally admitted that the brain drain in Malaysia is a serious problem. It's both entertaining and flabbergasting that the Oxford educated genius suddenly realizes that a mother is actually female (who can produce offspring). He talked as if the issue of brain drain began yesterday. The former health minister, who was sacked by the Malay nationalist party in January this year for sabotaging his own party during the Nov 2022 general election, was trying to steal the thunder from the Speaker of Lower House – Johari Abdul – who urged Malaysian students in China to return home upon graduation to help develop the country. But why should they? Apparently, the Speaker told the students, all of whom are ethnic Chinese at the prestigious Tsinghua University, to learn as much as possible from China be...
