*See below articles about Trump's visit to Malaysia and links to the agreement that was signed between both countries.* (a) *Great article by Frankie D'Cruz.* Joget Diplomacy by Trump and Anwar . Acknowledged the regular folk who'd been waiting hours to welcome him. Didn't walk past snootily like most VVIPs / Heads of State. What Trump's dance said about us, not him The US president may have danced, but Malaysia led — in rhythm, warmth, and grace. When Donald Trump stepped off Air Force One on Sunday morning and began swaying to the beat of kompang drums, something quietly remarkable happened. For once, the world's most polarising politician wasn...

*Non Muslim parents win court case against Firdaus Wong, a landmark ruling that redefines religious freedom* https://newswav.com/A2510_0BBA7L?s=A_uWjDmP8&language=en In a landmark ruling that could reshape the boundaries of religious freedom and constitutional accountability in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has declared that ordinary citizens can now sue other citizens for breaching their constitutional rights . The ruling, delivered by Justice Amarjeet Singh Serjit Singh , came in a case involving Islamic preacher and Chinese Muslim convert Firdaus Wong Wai Hung , who was sued by eight non-Muslim parents over a viral TikTok video. In the video, Wong allegedly encouraged the secret or covert conversion of underage non-Muslim children to Islam — a move that struck at the very heart of Article 12(4) of the Federal Constitution. For years, Malaysians have been told that the Constitution protects citizens only against government action , not against the ...

Draft: Rubber, Roots and the Tears of the Forgotten*

*Draft: Rubber, Roots and the Tears of the Forgotten* By Joseph Tek Choon Yee I remember watching Roots, the 1977 television series based on Alex Haley's book - the story of Kunta Kinte, the African man torn from his homeland and chained into slavery. His pain, his pride, his longing for home - all of it seared into my mind. It made me wonder about our own histories here in Malaya: who were the ones who toiled, who wept, who built the land we inherited? Years later, while presenting a paper on plantation history at an ISP conference, a senior planter stood up during the Q&A. "Joseph," he said, "you've spoken beautifully about European pioneers and Chinese entrepreneurs - and only a little about the Indians in plantations. Perhaps next time, could you also talk more about the South Indian workers — the Tamil labourers - who endured the hardest work of all?" That question lingered long after the applause faded. Because even after three deca...

Draft: Tears in the Tropics: Chinese Settlers Who Tilled Malaya…

*Draft: Tears in the Tropics: Chinese Settlers Who Tilled Malaya* By Joseph Tek Choon Yee I grew up in Jenjarom during my early childhood - years that have never quite left me. Somehow, the sights, the scents and the sounds of that little town still returns, as if memory itself refuses to fade. Our shared house, modest and wooden, stood amid neat rows of vegetables and cassava. I remember, as a boy, watching Chinese farmers bent over their plots from dawn to dusk, seven days a week, their straw hats glistening under the Klang sun. They worked as if time itself had forgotten to rest. My grandmother and mother often spoke of hardship, of the early years when even rice was rationed, and the only certainty was toil. I still remember how life was then - when our toilets stood outside the house, raised on wooden stilts, with a rough plank floor and a single hole that opened into a bucket below. It was primitive by today's standards, yet it was simply how things were. Every mo...

Article by Mariam Mokhtar.

Article by Mariam Mokhtar. Suggest these PAS politicians go home, get high on drugs and then rape their families to get the attention they need. COMMENT | The moral panic caused by St Michael's Alumni dinner In Malaysia, an alumni dinner is no longer just a chance to catch up with old friends, reminisce about inspiring teachers, or toast memories of decades past. No, it has become a moral battleground, a stage for political theatrics, where wine and beer glasses trigger national alarm. On the 29th September 2025, St Michael's Institution (SMI) in Ipoh, my alma mater, held a private alumni dinner, attended entirely by adults, outside school hours. No current pupils were present, only former ones. Alarmingly, the happy event was recast as an "alcohol festival" (pesta arak) by PAS politicians. Adults had gathered responsibly as they had done every year. Suddenly, a scandal of national importance had emerged. Welcome to the world of both the absurd ...

Too on the nose: Don't need study to know we're divided

https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/758197 NEWS YOURSAY | Too on the nose: Don't need study to know we're divided Yoursay Published:  Oct 16, 2025 8:17 AM ⋅ Updated: 11:19 AM YOURSAY | 'Is there a real will to change this?' No surprises: Unity Ministry study finds race, religion divide M'sians Milshah: It's good that there is a study on this. It serves as a confirmation of what we already know. It is like when a doctor, who knows the patient is sick, still needs to run tests to confirm he is sick. The next step would be how to prescribe the medication. Is it better to have no New Economic Policy (NEP)? What if it causes social unrest or a repeat of the tragedy that resulted in lives lost? Can people handle such changes or potential tragedy? People are emotional, but if something goes wrong, they blame the government. The government must represent itself as the better and wiser person. Is it better to have a one-school sys...

*From Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh*

*From Dato' Sri Wong Soon Koh* " DATUK DR. MUHAMAD AKMAL SALEH, WHY DON'T YOU PULL OUT FROM YOUR PARTY IN THE UNITY GOVERNMENT COALITION IF YOU ARE SO UNHAPPY WITH ITS CURRENT LEADERS? It is deeply regrettable that YB Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh, the UMNO Youth Chief, persistently launches such deliberate, divisive, inflammatory, and politically motivated attacks against the PDP President and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing. Let me be clear to Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh: YOU HAVE PICKED THE WRONG PERSON TO ATTACK. Dato Sri Tiong King Sing is representing the mandate of Sarawak. He is NOT from Peninsular Malaysia and NOT the one to be easily bullied by your narrow and manipulative politics. When you attack Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, you are not just attacking an individual, you are attacking a leader who carries the political weight of Sarawak. I believe that your actions risk making the government, which includes your...

EXTEND CITIZENSHIP FLEXIBILITY TO ALL STATELESS CHILDREN

EXTEND CITIZENSHIP FLEXIBILITY TO ALL STATELESS CHILDREN - DHRRA MALAYSIA DHRRA Malaysia notes with great concern the recent official statement by the Director-General of the National Registration Department (NRD), Datuk Badrul Hisham, on 19 September 2025, regarding the granting of citizenship to football heritage players. In his statement, Datuk Badrul Hisham clarified that the individuals concerned were granted citizenship under Article 19 of the Federal Constitution, through special circumstances which is a legitimate pathway available to non-Malaysians. He further confirmed that these heritage players obtained citizenship based on their Malaysian lineage through their grandparents, even though the original handwritten birth certificates could not be retrieved from the National Archives. The government's position that this measure aligns with "current administrative practices" is deeply concerning. There are clear indications that standard operating pro...
